Know what else is boring? M2 color choices.

Kinja'd!!!

See those choices in the bottom left? White, Black, a mix of white and black (Gray), and Blue. Seriously? How is there not at least a red, or maybe just one bold color choice?

Ok, hypothetical questions aside, I have a real question. Jalopnik already asked how much you would do to get your desired color, but what do you do if it isn’t even offered? Remember, I’m bored.

Obvious answer is you suck it up or don’t get that car. Got it. But please expand on your thoughts. Personally I don’t think it would dissuade me from buying the car if I really loved everything else about it. If my choices were evenly matched though, it would certainly be a variable I’d give more weight to.

but what do you do if it isn’t even offered?

1) Vinyl wrap

2) (Most common) Deal with it.

Black, another black, another black, white, blue so dark it might as well be black, a slightly reddish black, green so dark it might as well be black, gray, silver, another even darker blue, white, slightly brownish black, gray, white.

3) walk into the dealer and utter the phrase “BMW Individual.”

That grants you access to any paint color they have ever used, including mattes and 2-tones.

Maybe just me, but they should put the colors in order of wavelength to make it more obvious that the colors change... and look cool.

I do really like the blue, though.

Try speccing out the Honda HR-V or the Kia Soul. You don’t get any real paint color choices unless you sacrifice the manual transmission.

I hate you, modern automakers. Stop making colors exclusive to your awful CVT drone machines.

such an ostentatious display would hardly befit a stately motor car such as the S-Class.

It’s growing on me, and it’s a somewhat rare hue, but I want to stand out in a parking lot sometimes.

For a fair amount of cash monies - - it’s $2k on the 3 series, IIRC.

Wait really? I thought the Soul was purpose built for young people who love colors and avocado toast and ruining things.

It stands out - always catches my eye, along with those wide haunches.

Similar to Atlantis Blue.

For reference, here is the base model, which has the manual gearbox.

Kinja'd!!!

And here’s the Plus trim, with much better body cladding overall, more paint options, but no manual.

yeah, but if your other option is paying a 3rd party to repaint the car, it’s going to cost about as much.

It ain’t cheap. But you can get all kinds of stuff done through them. like hand-painted pinstripes, all kinds of interior trim and seat combos, in theory you might be able to get a technoviolet M2. Someone has already used it to get a factory-painted Austin Yellow M2.
